How many crafting can you have in gw2

Three of them craft different types of armor Armorsmith, Leatherworker, Tailor , the next three create certain kinds of weapons Weaponsmith, Huntsman, Artificer and the last three are used to make the remaining craftable items Chef, Jeweler, Scribe.

Each character can have two crafting disciplines active at the same time. If you switch to another discipline, your progress on the old one will be saved, but you will have to pay some silver to access it again later. Weapons are much trickier since depending on build, your character might need a completely different type. For example, in different situations, Guardian might need a sword, scepter, longbow or multiple other weapon types. To craft every single one of them you would need access to all three weapon crafting disciplines.

To make sure that you have enough crafting materials, you should always pick up all the drops that you get from monsters as you play the game and spend some time gathering. Salvaging obsolete items is also a great idea. You really can earn a huge amount of mats simply by running around the map not even farming specific items.

To craft an item you have to visit an adequate crafting station. All nine crafting disciplines have their respective stations. Before approaching the station, you have to learn the discipline from the proper Master Craftsman NPC. Clicking on them opens different panels, which are all the options that you have in the station. On the left, you can see all the materials and components viable for crafting. In the center, there are four slots in which you can place the ingredients.

When the components that you placed inside amount to a complete recipe, you will be able to craft the item. The recipes are pretty straightforward, so you should be able to easily guess what components add up to a full item.

They are all pretty similar, so you can follow the general rule that you can see in the already unlocked recipes. If you have any problems with that, feel free to look for them on the Internet, you can effortlessly find a site that lists them. There are some exceptions called Unique Recipes. To get access to them, the player has to get the special Recipe Sheet.

After you enter the Production tab, on the left you will be able to see the list of recipes known to your character unless you filter some of them out. As you level and skill up your crafting, the recipe color will change. Opening a recipe will show you the necessary components. Most of the gear recipes require two item components and either some monster parts, an inscription or insignia. If you click on the magnifying glass icon next to a component, you will be able to see the recipe for that element.

Crafting from raw materials the ones that you can gather to weapons or armor pieces is usually a multi-stage process. Some important recipes will be grouped under the Refinement category.

They allow you to use the raw materials to set up some advanced ones like ingots or planks. They can later serve as materials to create the weapon or armor components and then the finished items. As we already mentioned, through crafting stations you can also access the bank and the material storage. You can also look at the unlocked skins and change the ones that you have equipped. Next, to the crafting station, there should be an NPC vendor who can sell you some of the necessary materials. Having everything in one place sure is a great quality of life boon.

However, a big portion of the mats has to be gathered or bought from other players through the trading post. The second option is a bit more likely - you probably don't want to spend the whole day looking for materials that don't even cost that much.

Buying is just much simpler and more convenient, especially if the price is reasonable. Recipes allow you to easily view the combination of ingredients needed to create an item. Each recipe must be unlocked through a specific method:. To craft an item, you must have the appropriate materials in your inventory, bank, or collections.

You can collect these items by gathering , from loot , salvaging other items, or even by crafting. These materials are divided into tiers : higher-tiered materials — and a greater rank in the discipline — are required to craft items of higher level or greater rarity. The tier of a finished item is determined by the tier of its component parts. For example, tier 1 covers the most basic items, such as the C Fine Green Wood Longbow created using t1 components e.

This table provides an overview of the crafting materials in each tier; further details are available from the list of crafting materials. Chef ingredients are covered elsewhere, as that discipline uses a different system. The process of crafting items is extensive and varies by discipline. The two phases of creating items are discovery and production.

A player must collect materials, discover the recipe if it isn't known, then create the item. Many crafted items have other crafted items as prerequisites; this can lead to a large tree of components needed for a certain item, the best example being legendary weapons.

The production tab shows all available recipes. The color of a recipe's name indicates how close the recipe is to your current discipline level. The colors are the same as for item quality , progressing from F orange for recipes near your current level to E yellow , D green , C blue , B white , then A gray for recipes that no longer grant any crafting experience. Red recipes appear when you are within five levels of the next level interval, at which point they will automatically unlock.

The number after the recipe name indicates how many items you can craft using that recipe, based on the contents of your inventory, bank, and collections. The discovery tab allows you to attempt to mix and match components to find a new recipe.

Drag and drop or double-click items to add or remove them from the mix. When using the discovery pane, you only see items which fulfill all of the following criteria:. Items are highlighted in red when they are part of a valid recipe that require a higher crafting level to discover. As you add or remove items, you can also see how many possible recipes remain. If there are none, you can press the reset button to start from scratch.

Some recipes' ingredients may be beyond your current crafting level. Once a working combination has been entered, players will see one of the following icons:. This indicates that a valid combination for discovery has been entered; however, if quantities of one or more ingredients are insufficient, the Craft button will remain disabled.

When sufficient quantities of all ingredients have been entered, the Craft button will be enabled and the item may be discovered, permanently unlocking the recipe in the Production tab for all characters. Placing a crafting material in one of the available slots at a crafting station will result in one of the following messages:.

If you find a valid combination of items and have sufficient quantities of each, you will see the following message. Some items have a time gate and limit the number of times an item can be crafted in a period of time. This is usually for high level crafting materials like ectoplasm refinement. The purpose of time gating is to make crafting valuable for players who have invested into crafting.

You can keep a stack of of one item in the Material Storage and there's a slot for every possible crafting item. You don't even have to visit your bank to make the deposit - there's a button in the top left of your inventory that allows you to deposit materials straight from wherever you are.

You'll have to go to a bank to get them back out again, though. In order to make an item, you need to go to a crafting station. Like crafting masters, they're found in every major city and every racial starting map. The production tab holds all the recipes you know for the particular crafting discipline. They'll be sorted into categories and have a color that indicates how close to your crafting level it is and thus how much experience it will provide : in descending order, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, white, and grey.

The discovery tab is a special mechanic that allows you to discover new recipes. It's just four empty slots: you place crafting materials into each slot and combine them to create the recipe.

The items you're using must be in your inventory, bank, or material storage. Not every combination of items works, though, and it won't let you combine items that don't go together. One thing to keep in mind is that you may need more than one of each item to discover a recipe. If you've put in the correct items to discover a new recipe but not enough of a particular material, a black and blue preview of the recipe will appear.

When you add the correct amount of items, you will be able to click the "craft" button. The last few tabs show you the items in your bank and material storage. This way, you'll know what you have to work with. You have to level up your crafting skill the same way that you level up your character. For each item you create, you'll earn some crafting experience. Almost all crafting disciplines max out at level except for Jeweler and Scribe, which max out at level Gabrielle "Belle" Huston is a writer and long-time gamer based in Ottawa, Canada.
