Don't even really worry about about pages because the your probably going to start worryng about the next tier or ingredients. Nothing is over-rated. Your opinion is just outnumbered. Pages are by far the most troublesome thing to try and gather. They are only really on Nightmare, and they don't really start to show up until Act 2 in any great quantity in my experience unless you run on master level difficulty. By the end of nightmare and approaching Hell difficulty you start to get books instead of pages.
Followed by the same problem of getting books of secrets instead of anything else by Ac4 of Hell mode. It takes 10 pages to make one book and 5 of each type of book to make one book of secret.
Trust me it's way easier get the higher tier items than ten copies of a lower tier and upgrade it. Blacksmithing stuff isn't too useful once you fully upgrade your smith. Very few of the good items use them, and on the whole they seem to drop more than the jewel crafting items for me. Your problem is your over leveled really for your difficulty level. By 25 you can move onto nightmare mode if you have beaten diablo, at 30 your well beyond that point even if you beat each act on medium difficulty.
I'd suggest just killing diablo and moving onto nightmare, the fact you have to rely on crafted armor so much is because your above the level range and the drops are way below you.
