The Shinigami gets to kill the person holding the death note. Though I don't think Ryuk got much life Since killing humans are how shinigami stay alive From Light. Awian said: Ryuk killed Light not because his name was written in the Death note.
He killed him because Light was ment to die,he would either get out of blood, got killed by a bullet through his head or anything else, because it was ment to be,so Ryuk didn't see why doesn't he kill him before anything of that happens.
In Ryuk's own words he lost all fun in Light's journey and killed him. Let me explain. Ryuk, Kira's shinigami killed Kira because it is the official agreement between the shinigami and the death note owner that the shinigami writes his or her name in the death note when it is time for that person to die.
Kira had a possibility of going to jail and Ryuk didn't want to wait the whole time. That's why he killed him. Brush up on your death note facts.
Good answer JinKisaragi posted over a year ago. I have already vote you as the best answer JinKisaragi posted over a year ago. Ryuuk new Light was going to die, and if he did survive, he didn't want to be sitting in prison with him for the rest of his life.
He was bleeding out pretty bad if you guys remeamber him being shot. Eventually, Ryuk's story catches the attention of an unnamed Shinigami , who visits Ryuk to hear it. In the film series, Ryuk is very similar to his canon self.
The second film ends in much the same manner as the manga, except Ryuk pretends to be more cooperative by laughing together with Light over the fact that the Task Force can't shoot through his incorporeal form. Ryuk informs Light that humans who have used the Death Note are unable to enter either Heaven or Hell and shows Light his name written in the notebook. Light yells at Ryuk and jumps through him, trying in vain to stop his death, before dying in his father's arms.
He is last seen several months later, laughing and circling around Tokyo Tower. When L asks if Light died like a god, Ryuk struggles to answer, and L proceeds to burn both notebooks, sending Ryuk back to the Shinigami Realm. Ryuk is briefly seen in the third episode of the miniseries Death Note: New Generation. He apparently delivers a notebook directly to Kira-worshiper Yuki Shien, who begins acting as a new Kira.
The episode ends with Ryuk laughing and saying, "Interesting. In the Death Note manga pilot chapter , Ryuk is the master of two Death Notes that he dropped into the human world; Taro Kagami picks up the first one, and Ryuk talks to Taro.
The other is picked up by Taro's classmate, Miura. The police burn Miura's book, not knowing of the existence of the first book. At the end of the chapter, Ryuk follows an older Taro.
Death Note How to Read describes the Ryuk of the pilot chapter as "really lazy" and "incompetent. Death Note How to Read describes Ryuk in the Death Note yonkoma as, of the characters, one who "may" be the character most resembling the equivalent character in the Death Note series.
Ryuk is introduced in the Shinigami Realm, and he goes to Rem complaining that he is bored. Rem is looking down at the humans, and the two of them mock humanity. Ryuk then drops his Death Note into the human world, which is subsequently picked up by Light Yagami. Ryuk visits Light after he has begun using the Death Note, celebrating the creation of Kira, which he finds interesting.
Ryuk stays by Light's side, such as attending Misa's live performance and seeing Rem again when Misa and Light meet up. When it seems that Rem is getting attached to Misa, Ryuk reminds her not to break the Shinigami rule about helping humans. When Misa first meets L and realizes the name she sees doesn't match what he gave her, Ryuk tells her that she isn't supposed to know that so she doesn't make it obvious.
After Light thinks he's won by defeating L, Ryuk picks up the Death Note, bites his finger to draw blood, and begins to write. Light asks him whose name he's writing, and when Ryuk says it's Light's name, Light panics and desperately tries to get Ryuk to stop. Ryuk is unmoved, having grown bored of the human world, and Light dies of a heart attack.
Ryuk rolls Light's dead body over, pulls an apple out of Light's jacket, and takes a bite. Ryuk appears alongside Light as a non-playable story character for the crossover video game Jump Force. He serves as someone for Light to constantly vent to and voice all his beliefs to when no one else is around that will truly get him.
Light views everyone as lower than him but when it comes to Ryuk he sees him somewhat like an equal. This isn't on the knowledge scale but more on the Godliness scale.
One of the best examples of Ryuk being a bad friend is the fact that he only looks at Light as a TV show and as a drug supplier.
What drug is he supplying to his Death God buddy? Why apples of course. One of the sole reasons Ryuk came to Earth is for this delicious treat he would die for if he was able to die. Light just so happens to be a human that can easily obtain and supply these fruits that Ryuk loves so much.
While Ryuk did use Light quite a bit, almost more than Light used him in fact. He did tell Light a few times that he generally liked him. It's not sure whether he was saying this in comparison to the usual humans he's met but he still said he liked the guy. It's seen that most on Earth aren't huge fans of Light due to thinking he has a superiority complex due to his IQ.
Guess they were right, especially after he got his hands on that book. Exactly what kind of real friend would be fine with killing their friend. This is probably the biggest instance of Ryuk being the worst pal that anyone could ask for. He kills Light with no remorse. Yes, it's only part of the job but there are other Shinigami that actually show genuine love for their human partners.
