A few minutes later she came back and said that the focus ring was tight which is clear evidence of shock damage but after looking at it again they inspected the zoom ring and it was fine so that means it's a manufacture defect.
All of this in the 3 minutes I was on hold really?? I had to call for the Tech department to come to that conclusion? The lady said she would take the charges off get it repaired and send it out within 7 days.
Wow what a hassle. I think you spent more time whining in this thread than on the phone with Tamron. I shouldn't have to call is the point. Coming in here claiming I'm whining is childish why even post this? Your post adds nothing to this. I sent in my warranty card with my repair request - about a year and a half after I bought the lens.
They sent my warranty verification and a day or two later, said the repair was covered by the warranty. They were very polite. I am not sure this incident is indicative of Tamron's overall body of work. Life is not perfect and Ludachris is getting the lens fixed for free. I am not sure I would call a brief phone call a "hassle. You are right - it should not have had to be made. But it was and someone listened to your complaint, agreed with you and rectified the situation.
Happy shooting! I had pretty good luck with a warranty repair on my lens. It took two trips to the shop to get it fixed, but that was because the malfunction wouldn't show up until it had around a few hundred shots in a short time, then the aperture would act up. If it wasn't used for a few days, it would work OK. The second time in they knew to run it long enough to get the problem to show, and it was repaired quickly.
